The festive atmosphere of Chanukah was elevated to new heights during the third evening of celebration at Piazza Bologna, where firefighters played a special role. In addition to lighting the Shamash from the firetruck ladder, they delighted attendees by dropping parachutes loaded with chocolate coins.
This creative and engaging gesture added an extra touch of magic to the event, captivating both young and old in a moment of joy and delight.
Throughout each evening of Chanukah, a different family had the honor of dedicating the lighting of the Chanukiah, adding a personal and unique touch to each ceremony. This tradition, of the Chanukiah in Piazza Bologna, has fostered a special bond between the Jewish community and the surrounding neighborhood, promoting unity and diversity.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the Rome Police Department for ensuring the safety of the event, to the firefighters for their extraordinary participation, and especially to Engineer Biancamaria Cristini and the 2nd Municipality for granting the necessary permits.
The lighting of the Chanukiah at Piazza Bologna was not only a religious celebration but also an opportunity to share joy and festivity with the entire community, creating lasting memories and strengthening bonds of friendship and solidarity.
